Re: Ranger School in the National Guard

the other option once you're in the Guard, is to get an AGR slot and be a full time guard bum. that generally makes a side gig more difficult, but plenty of people make a living at it as an AGR or tech (aviation, and/ or maintenance) with guard drills on the weekends. Aviation AGR/tech life is the b...

Re: Ranger School Is Not A Leadership School

some preferential treatment yeah, but in graded positions I though in my PLT at least, we got harder looks and were generally held to a higher standard. that's my perception compared to watching others get some easy or easier goes. I didn't get a gimmie go in any phase. glad you got yours. I'm not d...

Re: Ranger School in the National Guard

C Co, 1-143 was probably the local LRS unit back when. I was in G/143 LRS in Texas '89-92. they have a lineage I'm guessing of being the most professional guard guys in your area. up to active duty standards, and with a lot of depth of experience from active guys who went there later. this is a gene...

Re: Ranger School Is Not A Leadership School

I don't know that I do disagree with the Maj. that mirrored my experience more than Centermass' description. maybe it's having been a Batt Boy. I don't know that I saw much nudging in the right direction, so much as an expectation that I/we'd perform to standard or get justly no-go'd for it. maybe I...

Re: ALL MEMBERS - Ranger Jim

Just saw it elsewhere.

Get hard and dig, Jim. And make the nurses giggle.

I read friends and calls aren’t wanted right now, but if we can get a room number for cards, down the road, I’d appreciate it.

Re: ROTC and the Ranger Battalion

I was gunna let him figure that one out for himself. Back in the 80-early 90s, ROTC got some Regular Army commissions too. Don't know when/if it changed. I had an RA commission waiting on my graduation. I enlisted instead.

Re: ROTC and the Ranger Battalion

Too many commissioned officers mistake their importance early in their careers, and don't value their relationships with other leaders. in my opinion. Officers, especially at the Company level are managers. They manage and resource NCOs. NCOs lead. Or, they're supposed to. If they aren't, their seni...
