Re: Question about Ranger/SF Medic versus Ranger/SF P.A.
18Ds are not PAs while deployed. They do not have the ability to order labs, xrays, and write prescriptions at hospitals in Afghanistan or Iraq. 18D's are the only non-degreed/non-commissioned healthcare provider that has prescriptive authority. as an 18D you will prescribe meds for teammates and i...

Re: Question about Ranger/SF Medic versus Ranger/SF P.A.
There is a lot of stuff here, some true some false. The Ranger Medic duty description an scope is pretty much outlined here on this website. If that sounds like something you want to do then do it. You are young, you can enlist do some time then apply to PA school. If you feel very strongly about me...

Re: Penicillin shot, possibly alergic.
I have never seen such worry over trivial shit. Yes, they give an injection at reception. Just tell them you are allergic, and drive on.

Re: Eye Surgery Advice
I have no health issues other than my eyesight which is nearly 20/200 but correctable to 20/20. My plan is currently to enlist after I get out of high school (probably the 4th of July 2011). I also plan on getting eye surgery because I dislike glasses, I don't want to lose my eyesight in the middle...

Re: Past collarbone fracture a disqualifier?
Rangers, After consulting "Army Regulation 40-501 Medical Services Standards of Medical Fitness" I have a few questions with regards to a two year old fracture of my collarbone which required surgery, and its effect on my eligibility to enlist and obtain a 11b opt. 40 contract. 2–11. Mi...

Re: Extra med supplies
Gentlemen, I've been working with my company medics trying to get them restocked and supplied as best as possible before we head down range. It's been a slow process, but for whatever reason we arent able to get an official restock from the Guard until we mobilize in Sept., therefore, we've been re...

So my understanding is to not really worry about it, but if a massive hole starts forming on my body, staph related or not, give somebody a holler? Can do. It all depends. If you get a hole in your ass, and shit starts falling out of it... it is perfectly normal. And if you develop a hole in your f...

Although it will be up to you to keep your certification, if you show the interest in keeping your EMT-I, the medical section can offer you different ways to get more than enough hours. That goes for the Regiment and the rest of the Army. I would agree with sleepy doc, no cadre, wherever you are in ...

You have seen a physician and have a diagnosis. But yet you come here looking for advise from non medical people and EMTs who have not even seen you. Listen to your provider and SHUT THE FUCK UP. IF you do not like what your provider has told you, go see a new one. Stop soliciting advise from non-me...
