Re: Special Operations Combat Medic (SOCM) Course

Pre-SOCM now requires you to attend some college classes at the local community college as well. Also, SOCM itself has been expanded from 6 months to 9 months now. All Ranger medics are required to complete RASP, Pre-SOCM, and SOCM before assignment to a battalion.

If they are 8 years old then doctrine has changed. I would recommend getting this if you want to study, plus the money goes to a good cause:

Re: Reintroduction/ Sitrep

rangertough, I don't know what it was like in the 90's, and the only Rangers I knew about were the power rangers.... but I can say that medical standards at the MEPS I primarily work with are bordering on the ridiculous. I have seen a lot of good kids get there chance to serve our country snatched a...

Re: Introduction: Kevin

That is correct. I have put in guys with some crazy med waivers that didn't allow them to get an airborne physical at MEPS when they joined, but once they were actually in the army they had no issue getting their slot to RASP. It will just come down to how hard you are willing to work for it once yo...

Not a hard thing to do. If you don't have this resolved within 10 business days, I would start callin' folks.

Re: When to start talking with a recruiter?

I forgot, recruiter work 24/7, 365 days a year. They never take leave, and they never take pass. They are at their computers constantly to service any need of potential applicants. The fact that he hasn't emailed you back within 24 hours is highly unusual for sure!

Re: Reintroduction/ Sitrep

To be honest with you, I haven't seen 11x opt. 40 available in a while now, except for when quitters' slots pop up randomly. From what I understand, Regiment is trying to recruit their combat arms MOS's out of AIT now, as they have more of a record to go on at that point. I don't know if thats true ...

Re: Reintroduction/ Sitrep

Ok, so you were never convicted of the charge. That makes more sense to me.

No, you cannot get options 4 or 40, or any MOS requiring airborne school with a med. waiver. Once you are in, you can volunteer though, this is strictly an entrance regulation.

Pick an MOS and earn your shot.

Re: INTRO-Tooreal11

The honest-to-God truth is that whatever you get outside of a guaranteed MOS is a shot in the dark for you. The Army is cutting back, and very picky (comparative to years past anyway) right now. You don't qualify for a clearance because of legal issues and you require a tattoo waiver. Hate to break ...

Good luck getting Air Assault in your contract.

For what its worth, that school would be right in front of the shit-burner certification course on my list of things to do.

Re: No OPT 40's available? Here's how to respond.

I tell them that they need to blow everyone else away so that the Ranger Liason finds them. That usually works.

If not, then yeah, I just call down there and let them know about the exceptional soldier who wants an opt. 40 and they do the rest.

Re: When to start talking with a recruiter?

Give me your recruiters name and number in a PM and I will call him and tell him all about how I got an opt. 40 at 17. That being said, there aren't really any 11x Opt. 40's out there, but that has nothing to do with you being 17. I hate it when recruiters give bullshit explanations when they could ...

Re: INTRO-Tooreal11

I was going to read your intro post, but I decided to read the entire dictionary, as it was shorter, less time consuming, and probably more entertaining. Either way, welcome to the site, hope you find whatever it is that your looking for.
