Re: $49.9M US Contract for 300 Winchester Magnum Ammo

I'm not surprised. I'm waiting for the .308 contract to hit. And the new projectile to replace ball ammo. I've seen tests...wow.

Re: M249 SAW Question

I'm sure they gave him the "range gun" that they let all the tourist shoot. IOW, shot out barrel. I've shot SAW's at very close range on paper, and at distance. If the barrel is serviceable, it won't key hole at any distance an indoor range can provide.

Re: Shotgun Question

The build quality is pretty low, the action cycles very rough. Maybe he got a friday gun.

Re: Shotgun Question

I have a Saiga 12 in my safe. One of the guys I shoot with gave it to me to work on. Won't run. He doesn't feel like spending $2000 to get a $500 gun to run.

Re: Reloading madness

Wolf primers, $120/K
Nosler 135gr .40SW at Cabellas, $31/250 (I bought 3 boxes). Loaded over 7.4gr of Universal Clays the 135's generate nearly 500ft/lbs of energy (at 1275 fps) and is under max pressure.

Powder I haven't checked for but will now.

Re: Shotgun Question

I had one with an 18" barrel. It only liked high brass, slugs and buckshot. Anything like "normal" field loads and it choked. Sold it and bought a Benelli M2. The M2 is lighter (much lighter) and runs like a champ. Yes, I used the light piston as per the manual for standard loads. The...

Re: Need help with a couple of CCW ??

manufacturers are having difficulty getting materials (steel and aluminum). They WANT to make enough for the demand but can't. Not all, but some anyway.

The ammo thing is total crap. Last time I checked, not a big criminal element into reloading.

Re: 2011 Stroker

This stroker is just an example of "what if I had machinery". I did the cocking serrations, long stroke mod on the slide, flat top, ball radius cuts on the slide and cut down the frame on a two axis vertical mill. I was doing part time work for the owner of a machine shop. I did some proto...

Re: Newest Member of the family

You may be thinking about STI Trojans and such, a bit different. They are still over a grand. The Spartan is the entry level 1911, but still a very good fit and finish. I've worked on one and gave a good once over. Very good deal.

2011 Stroker

This isn't the Red light! I had heard about long stroke 2011's in the past. No information about "how to" though. One clue that one particular builder let out was that a long dust cover was needed. That led me down the correct path I believe. I've never talked about it with anyone, nor see...
