And if you really want to serve in Bn, go get your 18D done, and come to Bn as senior medic. There are always 1 or 2 18D's serving in the Bn aid station supplementing our internal medics. They have it made and still get to do cool shit, and you will also get to go to Ranger School in SF either way. ...

I was definitely an exception to the rule.. 11B progressed from E-1 to E-5 without a tab. I was however working in a soft skill MOS at the time of being promoted to E-5.
