I've never thought about food while running.... Like CHCB said, at certain distances you HAVE to think about food - whether you want to or not. The primary source of fuel for runners is glycogen stored in your muscles. As a rule of thumb, you run out of glycogen after about 50 minutes of sustained ...

Ask Me if I Care

Did a search to see if this has been posted, and couldn't find anything. If this is a double-post, hopefully a Mod will delete it. There's an email going around called The Letter which purports to be a letter sent from a Mom to her son in Iraq. The email is misleading in that she didn't write it - i...

Re: Branched Infantry, How do I prepare 4 Ranger School

...Ranger School is where the Infantry Officer proves himself.... Negative. In front of his platoon is where the Infantry Officer proves himself. Ranger School is just another stepping stone. Keep your eye on the right ball, or else you'll be out of the game. Try stepping in front of a PLT with out...

For what it's worth, a total of 9 users on this site have posted from the same IP address as LtGoForBroke - including at least one verified Ranger. I think it is safe to say that the IP address does not mean they are all the same person.

Please let's not revisit the IP issue again. Yes every computer has it's own IP, but not every computer's IP makes it across the internet. If you are behind a firewall or proxy of any kind (like within a company network, or if your military installation has a firewall) then your internet IP address ...

Re: Cold weather boot question

...I have a friend who graduated last year and he said he only took two boots to Ranger school....his ICB's and his jungles...he said he used his jungles everyday, and his ICB's only at night to sleep. But the problem with his advice.... WTF? There are more problems with his advice than just that. ...

To emphasize what our British friend said, only run on a treadmill as long as you need to for your shin splints to get better. As soon as they're better, get your ass back outside - even if it is in the middle of winter. The Army doesn't put treadmills into formation for runs. Another good thing for...

Cigarettes and Tampons

A man walks into a pharmacy and wanders up and down the aisles. The sales girl notices him and asks him if she can help him. He answers that he is looking for a box of tampons for his wife. She directs him down the correct aisle. A few minutes later, he deposits a huge bag of cotton balls and a ball...

NPR

I listen to NPR because it's the best radio news available in this area, and because I like Car Talk. My problem with NPR is that every time I turn it on at lunchtime they're broadcasting idiotic drivel like Democracy Now or Alternative Radio. I'd like to challenge the local station here. My challen...
