M-16 "Machine Gun"

There is a point of contention regarding the M16 which I hope someone can clear up. I have always thought of it as an assault rifle and this is how it is referred to in Army FM's, i.e. gas operated, air cooled assault rifle. In the book To Be a US Army Ranger, however, it is referred to as the M16 m...

Another good trick is doing pushups on dumbells. With some 25's or heavier (for the height) you get your chest to go alllllll the way down. After doing those for a few weeks, switch to regular pushups, they'll feel like nothing.

PT Program

What kind of PT programs do all of you preparing for enlistment follow? I've always been a weightlifter but my time to enlistment is close enough that I've got to do stop weightlifting and do military preperation. Currently I do a circuit of jumping rope, pushups, pullups, situps, etc with no more t...

What is the highest possible GT score. Using the criteria given by Harris, mine is in excess of 200. I am unsure of whether I have made some drastic mistake, or should I just love my school?

For those that hate running, but still need to improve cardio/endurance, jumping rope can be a godsend. It also takes a lot of strain off your joints if you do it correctly.

ASVAB GT

I took my ASVAB and recieved two scores. My AFQT (87) and something called a Military Careers score (5), which I have not yet worried about. After looking through all of the test sections, I found nothing marked as "GT". Is the General Technical score a compilation of other components?

I took the ASVAB for a practice run during my sophomore year. I scored an 87, with a military career score of 5 (whatever that means). I have not yet taken it again "for real", since I have at least a year and a half to go before my enlistment.

Newbie Checking In

Hello all, my name is Alex and I am a 17 year old high school junior. I am from the Philadelphia area and have been interested in becoming a Ranger for several years... what initially piqued my interest was stories from WWII that my grandfather told. Since then, the intrigue has been pushing myself ...
