Well, after a little googling, it looks like the Chinook certainly does something called autorotation. See these excerpts from the following sites. Still, any Chinook pilots out there to make the definitive call? http://www.chinook-helicopter.com/maintenance/examiner/examiner.html Download a self ex...

Chinook Autorotation?
A friend and I having a debate that needs to be settled. He's saying a CH-47 can't autorotate. I'm saying it can (I don't see why it couldn't), and I've read detailed accounts of Takur Ghar, where Razor 03 autorotated to the base of the mountain after getting shot up. He's saying the nature of a dua...

Ranger Family Creed?
A thought: I've seen some witty 'variations' of the creed--i.e. Powerpoint Ranger Creed, Worldwide Creed, etc.
But is there a "Family Member's Creed"?

Prouddad's excellent adventure at RIP graduation
To close the loop on this, as expected my son graduated w RIP class 11-06, on 28 Jul, and it truly was a fantastic experience. For you other DEPers, Trainees and Rippies, just another word of motivation for you: If making your parents proud means anything, push yourself through it all, suck it up, a...

The right tactical watch?
[Yes, I have searched on this topic, and read past posts, but still have some questions] I've pretty much decided to get my son a nice tactical watch for his RIP graduation, but want to make sure I don't make a costly mistake. After doing quite a bit of research, it comes down to either a Casio G-sh...

Leave after RIP?
Hmmm. . . not sure where to post this, so will try here. My son tells me he's not sure he'll get to take leave enroute to his unit (he doesn't know which BN he'll get assigned to). He's heard that after RIP graduation he probably will have to report to BN first, and then see if he can take some leav...

Son's SITREP from RIP
Well, he's almost through RIP, so I thought I'd pass a SITREP on him. (He hasn't had much access to a computer) Back in Basic, about 40 of his buds had Ranger contracts, but about half dropped them--mostly just because they were intimidated by all the rumors and tales of ungodly smoke sessions. Once...

Sarnt Airborne!
Thanks Ranger Deleon,
Have been searching, as recommended. Found one more answer. The instructors (black hats) are always referred to as Sgt Airborne, in an unfailingly enthusiastic tone.
YES, SARNT AIRBORNE!!
Something like that. Correct?
Any other airborne'isms to know about?

Any special tips/preparations for BAC?
My son will be completing OSUT in May, and then onto BAC. I've read through the FAQs, and most of the threads here. And have read a couple of books that describe Airborne school. But haven't found as much specific info/advice as there is for RIP. I understand BAC is easier than RIP, so not as much t...

Thank you Rangers. Thanks for this great forum. I have been studying it all day. I've learned a ton already--and laughed a bunch too. And, it looks like I got my avatar squared away. And thank you for all that you've done to serve this great country. God bless. . . . back to studying the FAQ, and pl...
