Re: Any Rangers miss being in the regular army infantry?
Everywhere you go, you have something to learn even if it's what not to do. I used to look down on the "Big Army" grunts until I saw them limping back to base with multipile IED strikes. Not everyone can wear black kit and fast rope in to some shitheads house. Someone has to hold ground, m...

Re: PCU level 5
The whole PCU system is awesome. It was designed by Mark Twight of Gym Jones fame and was originally made by Patagonia. At least the sets I have are. I can't say I've worn them in the snow but I've worn it all over the northwest and Afghanistan. They're good in cold weather. My preferred layering is...

Even better if you can get someone else to cough up $500!JohnDowland wrote:Even better is the Arcteryx design. That is, if you're well enough off to cough up over 500.00 a set.

Pull obxes, replace boxes. Big cannon plugs to big adapters. Use the -10. No, it's not too hard.

You can be a customer or be the guy that fixes the bus. Good luck with reclassifying and if that doesn't work, you can give SFAS a shot.

Re: Army Backs Off Talk of Using Marine Camouflage Pattern
What's funny is all the people who champion the ACU, the ABU (Air Force uniform), MARPAT and the Navy "blueberry" clusterfuck are the people who don't go outside of the wire, don't hump up and down the mountains, don't do the fighting. I have yet to see the ABU or the blueberry out in the ...

Re: Army Backs Off Talk of Using Marine Camouflage Pattern
None of this would be a problem if the Army leadership hadn't fucked with the unifrom in the first place. But whats done is done. As for the Marines, they can eat a dick, along with the Navy and their new "blueberry" uniform and the Air Forces incredibly expensive (and fucked up) version o...

Re: Shin Splints?
Try running on the balls of your feet rather than your heel. It's takes a little while to get used to but it should go a long way in eliminating the shin splints.

Re: Army Backs Off Talk of Using Marine Camouflage Pattern
Big Army has wasted a shit ton of money on changing kit color and it's still the same shitty kit! The coyote tan kit is the same Eagle stuff as the green kit. Not the best, as you well know, but a ton better than the 45lb ACU patterned body armor with delt and groin protection that you can't even ge...

Re: Army Backs Off Talk of Using Marine Camouflage Pattern
We wouldn't be in this goddamn predicament if someone had just left well enough alone. I have worn both ACU, BDU, DCU and multicam in theater. All they had to do was give the commanders the option of wearing either BDU or DCU (you know, METT-TC dependent) in their AO and all of this could have been ...
