I believe that I was one of the lucky ones to be brought in when the reactivated the 1st Ranger Battalion in 1974. On my first day I was introduced to CSM Gentry, while "the cow killer" was serving up BBQ. My platoon sergeant was SFC Art Cobb (yes, he went on to be the Ranger Regiment CSM)...
