Re: Introduction - Ike
Ike, don't forget that you can always drop a packet to go to RASP from the regular Army as well. Some of the best NCO's I know in Regiment didn't have option 40 contracts and, because Regiment and the regular Army work so differently, it made them much more rounded. If you want to be an 11B and you ...

Re: Introduction - Jake
Look up a PT score chart, find your age, then look at what it takes to max each event. That's all their is to it, honestly.Lima860 wrote:What kind of time should I be striving for in a two mile run? Sub 12 minutes?

Re: INTRODUCTION
Grim666 is spot on. Don't enlist with an expectation to reclass quickly, too many things can and will change along the way. Even if you enlist as a cook, earn your Ranger Tab, and then try to reclass to infantry it has to be approved at the battalion level and they are hesitant to give up leadership...

14:30 with ~100 ft in elevation changes Don't worry about measuring elevation change during a 2 mile run unless you're going straight up Mt. Everest. You need to be able to max your run regardless of weather, time of day, terrain, or elevation change. As the saying goes, don't practice until you do...

Re: Introduction - Garglinglabrat
Congrats on getting the waiver. Like you I was also 29 when I enlisted, had completed college, and had been around the world a little bit. As such, I was more mature than 90% of anyone in my Basic, AIT, or RASP classes. This was a good and bad thing. On one hand, it gave me instant leadership opport...

Re: My introduction into the Army Ranger world.
"I am very intelligent have no problem passing asvab." Seriously? I realize "very intelligent" is both relative and subjective but this puts the rest of your resume in question. You WILL come in contact with many of us during your time in Regiment so focus on creating a solid rep...

Re: Introduction - Joseph
Welcome Joseph. I wouldn't plan on doing any college for the first couple of years if you do enlist with a Ranger contract as the initial pipeline (OSUT/AIT, Airborne, & RASP) can take upwards of a year by itself and then once you make it to the Ranger Regiment your only focus will be getting to...

Choosing an MOS
I'm not sure where everyone would like this to go, but I wanted the noobs, specifically the ones who have yet to sign a contract, to see it and this seemed like the best place. Choosing your MOS is one of the most important things you do as you begin your military career. The 11x OPT 40 contract is ...

Re: RS Sitrep- elgecko
Graduation was on Friday and it feels great to be back at home! Florida was a great experience, it really solidified what I learned in Mountains. Having the exodus break was a blessing and a curse, though, because even though we were rested and well fed many guys came back distracted. Our platoon wa...

RS Sitrep- elgecko
Merry Christmas Rangers! I left for RS rather suddenly and didn't have a chance to update anyone on my status before heading off to SURT. Right now I am on Christmas exodus between Mountains and Florida (perfect timing!) so I have a chance to provide some details on what it was like, in case that he...

Re: Introduction - Eric
Arizona90, Family was one of my main concerns when enlisting as well. So far, it has not met one of my expectations. That's not to say I regret enlisting, but just that my wife and I were unrealistic when we were planning. So whatever you decide, make sure you are considering legitimate worst case s...

Re: SITREP- Elgecko
Rangers, I am proud to report that Apkaz and I have graduated RASP. I have been assigned to 2/75 and am looking forward to getting started. I've learned alot in my short time in the Army and I have boiled it down to these three points: 1. Know when to stand out and when to blend in. Some guys only s...
