Re: Atranite finish on 1911

Ion bond is line of sight, this is a chemical process that can be done inside barrels even. M&P and Glock barrels are done inside and out. Can't remember the Rockwell on it but it is above hard chrome. Like a Glock finish even if the black wears the metal is still protected.

Atranite finish on 1911

I'm done with Production now. Good to be back to Single Stack. Just got my pistol back yesterday. Sent it to Freedom Gunworks to have it tri-topped and finished in Atranite. Atranite is similar (very) to the Melonite that S&W uses on M&P's. It's VERY black. It's a metal treatment where the b...

Re: Limited AR about done

Our local matches are close up so we use smaller targets (small as 4inches). We shoot out to 50m. At other larger 3gun matches it's common to see 100, out to 350 and 450 yards. RCH= Red Cunt Hair. The front sight base is a clamp on. I loosened it, and rotated it to the right about a half degree. The...

Re: Limited AR about done

Got it dialed in at 200. My 50y zero was just a tad low for 200. I lowered the front sight .005" and it brought the group up 2 inches and put it right in sweet spot at 200. I ran out of time to work on the 300 dope. 5 shots at 200y. 52g BVAC ammo. 1.99 center to center, good enough for 1 moa. I...

Re: Limited AR about done

I have 300 rounds of 77gr. I'll have the dope on those for longer ranges. The 52's are way flatter but have double the movement at 300 in a 10mph wind. For most of the shooting we do around here the 52's won't matter and the lighter recoil is a bigger benefit. I don't reload so this turned out to be...

Limited AR about done

Overview: JP 20" 1:8, turned down to .750" gas block forward. JP gas block, lightweight carrier and buffer. PRS stock only because it's heavy and moves the balance point back. The grip was free so I don't care how Obama it looks. DPMS rear sight and 22mm Globe front with a vertical post in...

Re: FN SCAR opinions

I have a buddy in 1st bat who called it a "mattel toy". Something about dirt and shit fouling up the small plastic components. He also mentioned the accuracy wasn't as good as the M4. Personally i still got my fingers crossed hoping Remington will knock atleast 1K off of the ACR price &qu...

Re: $49.9M US Contract for 300 Winchester Magnum Ammo

.300WM is harsher on the barrel. .338L will last longer. Similar, but different ballistics. .300 more accurate, .338 better term. ballistics.

Re: Good case for multiple barrels?

I knew that Peli was making a bid to purchase. Hopefully the QC and product doesn't change. I blast the latches with air to clean them out, but I will keep an eye on the cases coming back. Thanks.

Re: Good case for multiple barrels?

Your case looks like the metal cases we used to send the .300's out in. Very robust. Very good cases. We've switched to polymer cases, but the older metal ones were very good. I was just venting my distast for Pelican over other brands out there.

Re: Good case for multiple barrels?

Nice case. Looks like a perfect fit.

I hate Pelican. Storm IS the new pelican. Better latches, better hinges, better seal that won't fall out on the first deployment. I use a guy that custom cuts the foam inserts on a water jet. Did I mention better latches?
