Finished

Finished Robin Sage this weekend. I graduate mid-October and then to 7th Group. It was a lot of training in the schoolhouse but I'm looking forward to the next step. Thanks to everybody on this board for providing information and motivation over the past 2 1/2 + years.

At the risk of sounding like a hippie I can honestly say higher gas prices are a good thing. Nobody (including myself) likes to pay a lot for gas but it might be the only way to force us to address the issue of dependence on foreign sources of oil. Also, it should compel us to look harder at alterna...

Bobcat update

Finished SUT this past week. Going to SERE on Monday. The best part of SUT was not the actual instruction that took place (though I did learn a lot) but the shit I learned from the NCO's and our officer. I had three squared away Ranger Batt guys on my team and our O is a Ranger School graduate. The ...

The guys you went to OSUT with remind me of a guy I went to Selection with. He and one of my buddy's discussed how terrible it was and my buddy told him "I'll quit if you do." Guess what? That guy quit, my buddy didn't. After selection when we were all celebrating we ran into that guy and ...

When I said it was a better fit I mean simply that based on the research I did, it seemed like a better route for me. Having no firsthand knowledge of either Rangers or SF, I had to go based on any other resources available to me. It wasn't a "SF guys are so much cooler" or "Rangers a...

OSUT Complete

Rangers, veterans, all others: graduated OSUT today. Just one step down in the road. I checked into Airborne holdover today and have the weekend to spend with family. I was selected as the Soldier of the Cycle which was a nice honor. I was also offered a SF contract during week 13 and after a lot of...

Bobcat OSUT sitrep

Rangers and all others, I never bothered to post a "I'm leaving now" sitrep but I'm currently on midcycle pass from OSUT. I have above a 300 PT score with 80 PU's, 80 SU's, and a run time in the mid- 11's. And lest I forget...I cannot thank the Rangers and others on here enough for all the...

Option 40 secured

Thanks to all the Rangers for setting us straight. I ship out February 9, 2006. I took a deep breath, hunkered down for a big fight...and got none. Got the Option 40 pretty easily the second time around. Thanks again for all the information.

No options for next fiscal year?

When I went to MEPS, I was told that I could not sign up because I was not willing to ship until January 2006. I went by today to get clarification and they told me that the Army has not "loaded" any jobs for the next fiscal year yet. They said they should be good to go in June because tha...

Introduction

My name is Chris and my goal is to become a Ranger. I am a former Marine Corps officer candidate but decided not to return to the PLC Seniors program because I was unable to switch my contract from air to ground. I went to MEPS a week ago and attempted to enlist with option 40 but was unable to. I w...
