173d made a combat jump into Kurdistan and 3-75 (LTC Steve Banach) seized an airfield in Iraq. Both units received combat jump notations.

The aggregate number of jumps is an indicator but not an absolute one regarding risk and reward. Historically, combat jumps are considered the most risky/most rewarding and standards have changed over time. Some examples; MG Ridgeway, CG 82d at Normandy made his first jump into Normandy.
