Re: Getting out of the chair...
Don't get on the site much, but wanted to update this post. Running is a huge part of my life now. I'm 41 and still going strong. I completed the 50k trail run, last year, in 6:20. I've since participated in a 200-mile relay and have run a few more marathons. This years goal is a 50-mile trail run i...

Nice Apartments / Ft. Benning Area?
I have a family member and her husband that are PCS'ing to Ft. Benning in the summer. They are looking for housing and looking for advice for some of the 'nicer' apartments in the area. He's an E-5 and will be receiving BAQ.
Any suggestions?

Re: Getting out of the chair...
So... almost 4 years later. I have since run a full marathon and am currently training for a 50k Ultra trail run on 9/11/10 followed by a 54-mile run, to help raise funds for vets on 10/17/10, with Team Red, White, and Blue . I did slide back a couple of years ago, but got back at it hard after my w...

I am interested to hear what you've done about your income, as I would have to do something similiar. Unfortunately, even with the split, I wouldn't be able to join the military again without screwing over my wife and girls and thrashing my credit rating. I'm not sure that at this point, after look...

Finished the Detroit Free Press Half-Marathon on the 29th of October. I ran like a girl. Still need to work on my endurance. Legs started to feel like I had dipped them in cement at the 9-mile marker. Ended up averaging a 9 minute mile. Ran 13.1 miles in 1:57:46. Not bad for a first stab. Looking fo...

I use vonage also. I tried using the lines in my house, but they are old and the call quality tended to suck. I switched to a mulit-handset cordless unit and it works great. Get an echo every once in a while, but I had that with the wired service as well. I like being able to check voicemail and man...

Cool site (tied to google maps). You basically find your starting point, start recording, and double click the map for each point. It will calculate distance / calories burned, etc. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ I also grabbed a new pair of running shoes yesterday. Tried on about 10 different brand...

RBL, I wish you the best on your efforts to get back in shape. Based on the information you posted here, I'd suggest starting with some light exercise and just cutting back on your caloric intake. Key is low carbs and reduce the calories (start with about 2200 and reduce from there). Also start incr...

As I mentioned in the other post, I'm down to 175 now. Working on maintaining that weight. I ran 7 miles yesterday. Realize that I need new running shoes.... Now working on increasing muscle mass and have switched to a very high protein / low carb diet. I am hoping to find that balance as I dropped ...
