U.S. Envoy Rebukes Karzai
KABUL—America's departing ambassador to Afghanistan delivered Sunday an uncharacteristically public rebuke to President Hamid Karzai: Stop comparing us to occupiers or the American public could turn its back on the war. Ambassador Karl Eikenberry, who is wrapping up a two-year stint in Kabul, issue...

'Rambo did stuff like that'
Read more. With only five weeks on the ground, the last thing three enlisted American servicemembers defending a mud-walled compound want to hear from a Special Forces commander is, “you guys are crazy for even being here.”

Re: The Mall Ninja
Worst part? Sometimes these guys really exist. I ran into a guy at the range once. Older guy, but he had all the latest expensive gizmos and tactical firearms. He also looked like he probably couldn't even do a 5 minute 50 yard dash without keeling over. As an aside, I didn't know they made BDU's th...

Re: Army Backs Off Talk of Using Marine Camouflage Pattern
I get having equipment that is mission specific by branch or unit for that matter. That's easy to conceptualize. But I also concede there is applicability for equipment across branches for individual items also. Like. I don't know- a uniform? If they have found the Rosetta Stone of camo that ...

Re: What sticks with you?
First, I have never been in combat. So forgive the intrusion on this thread. But what I do remember are the fallen and patriots. Both family members and guys I never knew or perhaps never will. Each and every day of my life. Without exception. People like yourselves who alternate between seriousness...

Re: T-6 and T-8 boots -- by Garmont / Extreme Outfitters
Two pairs I am relatively happy with; Danner TFX/GTX. Great everyday boot, sturdy, no break-in, waterproof, etc.. I use them for hiking, rucking, etc. But they are more of a warm weather boot. Not made in USA. Belleville 880ST - Probably the best boot I have owned. Very sturdy, light (for leather) a...

Re: Photographic history of the Viet-Nadm war
Perfect time to share this story, which I will paraphrase for brevity. I was speaking with a family member that served in WWII. Years later, when I was a kid, I asked him what it was like. He would sometimes demur and occasionally let loose a few gems. This was one that came out of the blue one day....

Re: Bin Laden relatives want probe and proof of death
Yeah, me too. In fact I am going to hire the guys who found Titanic to scour the Arabian Sea to find him. When they do, I am going to shoot him again myself. Then when I am done, we are taking his body down to a vacant lot by the WTC and leave it there for the buzzards. It will be close en...

Re: AR Grips
Thanks for the advice.
This is important since I have been putting some serious range time in. That is probably why changing the grip messed with my karma.
I got very comfortable with the standard Colt grip. But then started tinkering for improved platform stability, etc.

Can I say that was awesome? Well I just did.
