Re: 300 Club
Thanks for the advice I appreciate it. Seeing as how PT isn't counted till junior year I have been focusing on lifting for now as I really want a 315 bench and 500 deadlift. I got a 285 or so bench now at 185 lbs bodyweight, but I want the 3 plates haha. I know lifting isn't that important for the P...

Re: 300 Club
Could you go into a little more detail, as far as what you do for PT with ROTC, as well as what kind of lifting you do? Without knowing any more about what you do, my advice would be to go ahead and incorporate long slow runs into your workout routine. If you're already getting 1-2 circuit training...

300 Club
Rangers, I am now an Army ROTC cadet. I took my first apft test and got a 291 out of 300: Pushups: 73 Situps: 76 Run: 13:24 So I missed 300 by 2 situps and 24 seconds of running. My question is right now I'm doing 3 days of morning pt a week and 3 days a week of lifting. Will this be enough to get m...

Re: Vibram Five Fingers
Rangers and others, I think you would enjoy the book "Born to Run." It's all about why barefoot running is so much better for you, and a very entertaining read. Vibrams are basically barefoot running with slight protection. I ran with my regular running shoes but modified my foot stride to...

Re: Pre-Rip PT program in Ranger Medic Packet.
Shooting man look back in this post on the 1st page it shows what weight you use for the 6 week program. You start off with 30 and then move up... I have not been doing that program I have been doing the PRE-RASP 12 week Prep that was provided in a link on the 1st page of this post by Ranger Ndog. ...

Re: Pre-Rip PT program in Ranger Medic Packet.
Rangers, I'm still decided about enlisting with an option 40 contract or taking my ROTC scholarship. Either way, I need to get in much better bodyweight pt and running shape, as I have focused on strength for the last year of working out (I've been working out for 1 1/2 years). If I do that 6 week p...

Re: Repeat Sprained ankle
shootingman99, I injured my ankle, during a cross country race. I came down on it wrong; and inverted my foot so badly that i broke a bone in my foot. However, bones heal....not so well as tendons and muscles. I also had a very weak ankle, and even reinjured it. It was because of this 2nd injury th...

Re: Weight Lifting to increase Push Ups?
Well I can say that I have done only lifting for a while now with not much pushups and my pushup numbers only suffered. I was 6 foot 170 really skinny and could do just over 90 solid pushups in 2 minutes and 59 solid pushups in one minute, but after the lifting I am 6 foot 195 and could only maybe k...

Ranger X:
Thanks I saw a physical therapist the other day! He put me on a program of inversion/ eversion band strengthening exercises, plus some balance work and stretching. Leaving this Wednesday for backpacking in Yosemite so hopefully it will stay healthy.
Thanks,
Shootingman99

Repeat Sprained ankle
Rangers, I sprained my ankle last summer doing a 6 mile trail run, and since then it has been very weak. I sprained it a month ago, and had to take 3 weeks off running( :x ) Then I went on a backpacking trip with a friend this weekend. It was a 2 night trip and I got really protective boots before h...

Re: How Should I prepare?
Rangers: Wow I just checked this thread out, and I think this is my main problem in running. Right off I did every single run almost as fast as I could. 3 Days a week I would run 2-3 miles and do it as fast as I could, or pretty close (10-20 seconds short of puking). Now I have bad shin splints and ...

Re: PT Eval
In case it matters, here is an expanded version of my workout week. I do like the Idea of the ruckmarck, Ill add one in on Saturdays, any suggestion on poundage, OR which boots I should use (or running shoes). If there is anything anyone can suggest differently, I am happy to give it a go. I have r...

Re: Puke PT
Rangers, So I just did a little google searching on the subject, and the causes were varied, the ones I think are likely though are an over build-up of lactic acid, over production of endorphins, or just simply over pushing your body. I have never thrown up after a weight workout, but have thrown af...

Re: Puke PT
Rangers, Got it. So just train hard, and if it happens, it happens. And no, I don't puke that often during runs, just when I am doing my best 2 mile time or 1 mile (which hasn't been as good lately). And I guess I should have phrased that differently about the "usual" puking. But if you ar...

Puke PT
Rangers, I have one more question about pt. Do you think it is a good idea to do pt with the sheer intent of forcing your body to puke? Today I did a circuit routine : 1/4 mile run: 1:18 40 situps 10 pushups, 9 pushups, 8 pushups, 7 pushups, 6 pushups (40 total) 1/4 mile run 1:37 40 situps 10, 9, 8,...
