Re: First ones on the ground in Operation Urgent Fury?

60 replies now Trigger, aren't ya glad you asked? :D (I am, great thread - thanks all!) And Merry Christmas! Definitely so, Ranger K. Ingraham. I was hoping someone here would have knowledge of who was first. Instead, I'm getting to hear stories directly from those who were actually there, and ther...

Re: First ones on the ground in Operation Urgent Fury?

Did the Ranger who jumped early land anywhere near the drop zone (or even on land)? Was he able to regroup with his element?

Re: Cadet Intro

Welcome CDT. Michengineering, I also attend a pretty hostile, liberal school. The MECHA group on campus likes to protest us every once in a while, which we get a hell of a kick out of. In fact, last time they did it, a group of students formed to protest them. We had to hold back this one student, w...

Re: PT improvement/motivator

Good progress, but what's up with this goal of 13 minutes??? Your goal should be 12. Run faster. Right on, Ranger Bill. My tangible, realistic goal for the next month is that 13:00. Once I meet that I will continue on and set another, faster goal. I don't see any reason why I can't be in the 11's b...

Re: First ones on the ground in Operation Urgent Fury?

1/75 jumped ahead of 2/75 if that's what you're asking (not that it matters for much). I saw no MP's there. Wish I did though--- could have used some protection! I finished my conversation with him with "Well, if they were first, it was probably a good thing because somebody needed to be...

Re: First ones on the ground in Operation Urgent Fury?

Ranger K. Ingraham,

I'm a bit confused by your reply, as wasn't Operation Urgent Fury was in Grenada? Is there something I'm missing or are we just talking about two different events? I know today is the anniversary of the invasion of Panama, maybe that is what is sparking the confusion.

First ones on the ground in Operation Urgent Fury?

Having a discussion with a 2LT (prior enlisted combat vet, so he's no cherry 2LT) who is stating that the 503rd MP Battalion was the first on the ground. I just can't believe that, knowing that the invasion was led by the 2nd Ranger Batt. who seized the airfield. Is he right, and if he is, is it by ...

PT improvement/motivator

This thread is serving as an overdue update and motivation for me to produce a 300+ on my next PT test in two months. Took my first ever PT test 10 months ago, scored a 209. I don't remember the exact repititions, but I passed the PU's by one. Didn't do much better on the run, but I picked up at lea...

Your overall scores: Visual Style 9 / 20 Aural Style 12 / 20 Verbal Style 13 / 20 Physical Style 14 / 20 Logical Style 17 / 20 Social Style 13 / 20 Solitary Style 10 / 20 I learn things best through just thinking it through logically, followed by physical. I still think many Drill Sergeants are bett...

Re: Shit happens... I guess

T.O.E.S., Is there something on the medical waiver you were given that prevents you from going Airborne? If not, on what grounds are they barring you from anything Airborne? Could it be something that has nothing to do with your medical background (needs of the Army, available slots, quotas to fill,...

Re: Introduction (Update)

My advice may differ from some, echo others, or solidify your resolve, in the end I can't say or speculate as to which, only you can. But having read this thread I offer you my thoughts, and my thoughts come with a few questions... 1. You're a contracted scolarship cadet? YES 2. You're an MSIII? YE...

Re: Introduction (Update)

Roger that Ranger PocketKings. You're 110% correct, Cadre have a lot of motivation to tell us how great everything is going to be and what not in order to recruit and retain cadets. We recently received a Ranger tabbed, scrolled, and SF tabbed Captain. We don't have any tabbed NCO's, but I hear that...

Re: Introduction (Update)

I'll bet you're from California. I'll even bet you went to private school. You seem accustomed to people giving you what you want. I wish I could be there when the myopic wave of your self-aggrandizement crashes into the reality of an institution that spurns the self-serving. My hope is that you wi...

Re: Introduction (Update)

I spoke with one of our Captains (MI) today who was 9 years prior enlisted (Medic, then Preventitive medicine). His perspective was wrapped around the difference in quality of life; particularly what each role does during downtime (he kept talking about painting rocks). I acknowledge his point, but ...
