Equipment

Hello Rangers, I'm about to start PRP and I'm trying to make it to the March RS class. I have a question as far as my personal load bearing equipment. Do I need to bring my unit issue MOLLE vest with canteens and shit, or can I bring my Tactical Tailor chest rig? I figure different units go there an...

Wolfman in Airborne hold

I graduated OSUT on Feb18. All my friends with 18X contracts (70% of my company was 18X) went straight into jump school while I had to spend a week in abn hold on Sand Hill. While on sand hill I was still considered an IET soldier, so I could not leave or do anything off sand hill. Now I am in hold ...

173rd Airborne BDE, 74th Infantry Detachment LRS

I am still in OSUT, but I am going to be sent to the 173rd. I was wondering how I could get assigned to the 173rd's LRS unit.

Thank You.

Wolfman home on exodus

Just checking in. Everything has been going great. I have a pretty good platoon, and good Drill Sergeants. We have a good balance of DS's. One who smokes the shit out of us for everything, one who takes the time to teach us shit and has some patience, and our Senior DS who has a lot of knowledge and...

I know this is an old topic, but I currently use kettlebells. I used to be a welder/fabricator, so I made a couple of plate loaded kettlebells myself to try them out since 100+ dollars is a lot of money for a chunk of iron. They are really great for building not just strength, but stamina for doing ...

Ranger Saltbitch, that was a very eloquent piece of writing. I have always been more apprehensive about getting called out on vehicle accidents than fires (actually I like fires) for the fear of coming on a scene like you described. It especially sucks when they are teenagers doing the same shit tha...

"Please explain to us how you can get endurance out of this ‘five rep’ scenario." Angry Pistols, that is because as your slow twitch muscle fibers start to become fatigued your fast twitch muscle fibers begin to carry more of the load. That's why you'll see long distance bicycle racers...

The technique Ranger BadMuther says about doing 25 pushups every hour is a method known as Greasing the Groove. It is based on increasing either strength or numbers through improving neurological efficiency. Training your body to become more skilled in a specific range of motion. For increasing stre...

82nd VS 173rd Abn

When I enlisted I was given several choices of enlistment bonuses. I was given the choice of being in the 82nd airborne which the career counselor said was more prestigious and of the 173rd in Italy. I took Italy, because I figured I wouldn't go there any other way and with the airborne option would...

Ranger BadMuther, we are not part of CDF, but we do a lot of mutual aids with them. In fact Burson caught on fire again yesterday, so we sent an engine and water tender up to help them out.

jsmurphy, I grew up in Lodi, but my family moved out to Acampo 6 years ago. Was it Lay's Diner?

Wolfman's Intro

Hello, My name is Larry. I am a 20 year old firefighter from California. I started trying to enlist last January when we were about to invade Iraq, but the Army screwed my paper work up which caused a lot of problems for me to get it straightened out. I finally swore in on July of this year and I go...
