Re: First ones on the ground in Operation Urgent Fury?
Oh, yeah. Believe me. Greer picked me up by the pack tray and threw me out. It happened. I will never forget falling over that crate of mortar rounds so far from the door, and I will remember crawling for the door for the remainder of my days. When Greer hoisted me, I could not believe it, as we wei...

Re: First ones on the ground in Operation Urgent Fury?
Hell, if the bird is taking hits, and the light changes while a guy is standing in the door, I can understand him jumping. I can understand the entire stick following him out, no matter what color the light might be. I know that I wanted the hell out of my bird. I hated being the last guy on the rig...

Gunny Mooch is THE Authority on Urgent Fury.
He is an historian, and he has been researching this operation for years. He will grunt out a book when he gets it done.

Re: First ones on the ground in Operation Urgent Fury?
I will not step on Joe's toes here, as he will have the definitive scoop, but I can say that there was a SEAL element that jumped during hours of darkness and was subsequently lost in heavy seas. They were supposed to recon Point Salines, but they never made it ashore.

Re: First ones on the ground in Operation Urgent Fury?
The MP's flew into the airhead late, they air-landed, and hostilities in the vicinity of Pointe Salines had ceased by the time that they arrived. I no longer remember exactly when they came in, as it has been many years, and I never paid any attention to the MPs, but if I had to throw a time out the...

Jesus!
He is not even a good poser!
Ok. Make copies of this picture. It constitutes incontrovertible evidence of a Stolen Valor offense.
Who is carrying the football on this, and referring this guy to the Federal authorities in his jurisdiction?

I think that he was a SP5 at the time. I forget. Early 1983. Good dude. He sure did read some intriguing books.

Re: Grenada Hero or ????
Ranger ma91c1an, Thank you for that detailed on point reply. I have been criticized by my friend for even questioning this guy's story since I am not a vet. I am pretty sure that real heroes wouldnt mind having their stories checked out. You have now convinced me that the guy is a poser, but I am h...

Re: Grenada Hero or ????
He claims to have jumped with a "mini 14 carbine" and a "50 cal sniper rifle." Total poser. Total bullshit liar. There was a guy who landed in the middle of a bunch of Cubans (three? four?) on the North side of the runway, in the middle of a gunfight between 1st Bat Rangers and ...

AKA as the GP Medium Net.
One of the coolest pieces of gear, ever, IMO.
It was great for camo, if you wanted to weave local flora into it, and it made a superb hammock.
I WISH that I still had one. I would put it up in my garden.
