Re: What was Ranger School like for you?
Sweet Jeeeebus! How in the fuck did you end up with size 16 Leather personnel carriers? I would hazard a guess that they are still somewhere down there, maybe in the 6th RTB museum that my class "remodeled". Probably right next to a few beer cans that somehow ended up inside the wall there...

Re: Journalist Sits in on Taliban Ambush
Let me clarify my earlier statement about the journalist being an asshole. He might very well have accepted personal responsibility for being where he was and doing what he did. Kinda like the 2 reporters in Iraq that were hanging out with a group of insurgents and were killed because of their poor ...

Re: Journalist Sits in on Taliban Ambush
So basically your teacher friend is in support of doing stupid things in warzones when your are not a fighter just because someone else will come save him.
People like him are the ones the taliban put on tv.

Re: MOH Question...
Maybe its not the military, maybe it's just MOH awardees the POTUS has a grudge against. Reason I say this wasn't he one of the only Presidents at that skipped the MOH Ball when he took office? Maybe personal courage bothers him? Who the fuck knows. The man didn't serve in the military. I have littl...

Re: MOH Question...
While saluting the awardee is a time honored tradition that is strongly encouraged, I don't believe it is actually required in any regulation. Its done usually as a sign of great respect for that person's deeds. Doesn't change the fact though that you should damn well present yourself with some pers...

Re: Surviving the Cut
I was wondering when they changed a whole shit load of things from when I went through. About the only thing that was the same was no sleep, no food, and an instructor/ opfor getting a beatdown on an obj. I do believe some guys in my class received a major plus for that.

Re: Vietnam Wall
Humbling link. In my hometown there were 2 entries- one of which was from my old unit. He was killed just over 30 days into his first tour outside of Hue in 1968.

Re: Battle of Fallujah
If you're looking for a book about Army units in Falleujah, Try Reading House to House, by former SSG David Belavia.
Good book detailing his platoon's time there. I also hear rumors of the author being recommended for a MOH due to his actions.

Re: Surviving the Cut
Thank you Ranger (ok seriously, I'm not calling a Ranger -fatboy not in this lifetime) for the pep talk. A mom gets to worrying when she really shouldn't waste the time or energy. Trying to learn - a day at a time. Thank you for your service and God bless. FYI, a Fatboy is a kind of motorcycle. It'...

Re: Surviving the Cut
my son said they were there filming when he went through Benning the first time. Let's see that was sooooo long ago - I think he started in March. Ha ha - he's still at it in second phase now. Fool just refuses to quit! I am so proud but will his digestive system and sleep pattern ever be normal ag...

From where I sit Lefty, you have more than earned the right to post up, even if it does ruffle some feathers. And for the record, I agree with what RANGER513 wrote: Personally, after hearing some of the serious fire fights and battles my Brother Rangers experienced in Viet Nam, I don't even talk abo...

Re: The Combat Action Badge
The CIB vs the CAB. Interesting topic of discussion. My feelings are this- if you serve in a war zone, you receive a combat patch ( SSI/FWTS). If you engage (or are engaged) in combat, you should be awarded a Combat badge of some sort- whether it's a CIB, CAB, or CMB. Everyone from the current confl...

Re: Darby 8 Hour Pass Questions
ZoneIV- from what I recall from my time there, a student (or several) missed link up after the pass. And maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but did they used to bring you back to Rogers in between phases for your refit? I seem to have a memory of a guy needing an emergency re-sole on a pair ...
